Related links - back in the olden days, these were far more numerous, but those days are over... :
Mister Films is Matt Ryan's independent movie group based out of San Antonio and Austin, Texas. So far they have produced three full length features as well as a bevy of smaller projects. On a personal note, I was also involved in many of their early projects and my first forays on the Internet happened in parallel with Matt's site, so to say I have some nostalgic fondness for MisterFilms.com would be an understatement.
The forum for Mister Films also exists on the Border-Town forum, since the Ez-Board version of this forum actually existed before the site.
My site on the Great Games Experiment.
Me again on MySpace, this is just a Border-Town mirror for people who either hate typing in this URL or really like those true ads.
Transformers:
IDW is currently producing the kind of Transformers stories I have wanted to read ever since I rediscovered the movie over half a decade ago. In fact, don't even visit the IDW link. Just go to Amazon and buy this, this, and this (although only get the first and third link if you must). I have tried about three times to write articles about how and why I love this stuff and why it is better than all the Transformer's robo-drama crap that came before it, but each time I fail. Just trust that it is good.
E.J. Su's Prototype Garage- The primary artist for this series. He's skipped two issues so far and I really miss his work.
Video Game Sites:
Insert Credit, a good source for pretty esoteric videogame news with intelligent writing.
Another site containing in depth reviews and features on interesting video games, including import only console games and arcade games you'll probably never have the chance to see in person.
Select Button, a forum of cast aways from Insert Credit.
The Gamer's Quarter, a quarterly publication thats kind of like the Reader's Digest for gamers. I say that having never read the Reader's Digest. I will also make the unathuoritive claim that TGQ is better somehow. Buying a copy is more enjoyable than reading the PDFs.
Shen Mansell, King of the Internet. I recommend Loop the Loop, Bunny X-Mas (GBA), and S-World 2 (GBC).
Here's a link to Cave Story. Saying this is good is now considered passe, so I guess I'm lame. Here's a link to news of a MAC version. And here is the Japanese author Pixel's website.
Who didn't like Earthbound? What if I told you Nintendo had made Earthbound 2, but wouldn't release it because they're actually not the nice people we want them to be? Well, you can buy Mother 3 from Japan and then wait for this site to release a patch so you can translate it, and then play it using some kind of cartridge dumper that's sold in China, possibly violating the law in the process. I think even Thomas Jefferson would support such insubordination against so cruel a overlord.
This is an old Amiga game that was ported to the GBA by the original developer. You can still buy an actual cartridge for only $30. To be honest, I don't really like the game that much (mostly because A shoots and B jumps) but what the heck. Give the guy support for rockin' in the free world.
